Op regelmatige basis coördineert ze publicaties, on & offline, zoals De Schaarbeekse Taal/La Langue Schaerbeekoise, Are You Being Served, The Death of the Authors, Cqrrelations.

EN Paramoulipist is a declaration of love for parameters and Oulipian practises, made by artist, writer and storyteller An Mertens. On this website you find collective and individual experiments around the materialities of creating stories in a digital context, with a focus on collaborative practises and Free Software tools. An is a core member of Constant, a Brussels’ based organisation for art and media with a focus on free software, feminist diversity and free culture.
With Adashboard (for fiction) she looked into narratives that are non-linear and ubiquitous thanks to their netnative character. This resulted into the publication of the distributed novel, ‘Tot Later – The Author’s Cut’, in collaboration with OSP. In 2009 An put in place the performance group Colapsekode in order to experiment with modes of collaborative authorship, including the motion tracking software objsrcs as an equal partner. In 2012 she co-initiated De Bezige Bij Antwerpen An rewrote her distributed novel ‘Tot Later’, that was launched in September 2013. She regularly coordinates publications, on- & offline, such as De Schaarbeekse Taal/La Langue Schaerbeekoise, Are You Being Served, The Death of the Authors, Cqrrelations.
Since 2016 An explores the narrative perspective of self learning algorithms, for which she obtained a research funding of the Flemish Government. Currently she continues to develop this track in collaboration with Algolit and as a collaborator of the research project Algorithmic Uncertainty.
An gives performative lectures in English, Dutch, French and Spanish.

Are You Being Served, The Death of the Authors, Cqrrelations.
